Book Launch: Edgartown – From Whaling Port to Summer Resort by Bow Van Riper

Edgartown has been a shire town, a seaport, a sportsman’s paradise, and much more. When the whaling industry faded, it reinvented itself as a summer-centered community of sprawling hotels, bathing beaches, and genteel vacation homes. Join Bow Van Riper for the stories behind some of his favorite images from the new book. Books will be available for purchase/signing.

Bow's presentation of Edgartown's history was interesting and insightful. I read the book this morning and enjoyed it. In relating the history of Edgartown it provides a lot of context for a better understanding of Vineyard history as well.
